Wednesday Weight Loss Challenge

Anna Snatch Pan AMs 2015 75 kg

To Eat, or not to Eat….

Believe it or not, eating actually is quite costly to our body and raises our metabolism. The thermic effect of food (TEF), also known as specific dynamic action (SDA) of a food or dietary induced thermogenesis (DIT), is the amount of energy expenditure greater than the resting metabolic rate due to the cost of processing food for use and storage.  The thermic effect of food is about 10% of one’s caloric intake, though the effect varies substantially for different food components. For example, dietary fats are very easy to process and have very little thermic effect, while proteins are hard to process and have a much larger thermic effect.

The TEF concept therefore makes a valid arguement that we should eat more than 3 times a day, and is the reason Anna is eating 5 x day, and successfully losing weight. This is the end of week 2 for Anna with her Wednesday Weight Loss Challenge, and she weighed 83.3 kg / 183 lbs, net loss of 1.3 kg / 3 lbs this week and a total loss thus far of 3.5 kg / 8 lbs. It works!!!

Stay tuned….Anna is 7 weeks out of the World Cup Weightlifting Competition, and has 8 kilos to lose. Keep cheering her on!!!!! Go Anna, go!
